Getting my Caffeine Kicks at Hubspot

Written by Vourneen Taylor | 3 November 2013

After an intensive recruitment process I started as an Inbound Marketing Consultant at the international office of Hubspot in Dublin. The past few weeks have entailed a cocktail of extensive product training, role plays, presentations and meetings with colleagues. Yesterday, I flew to Boston for 2 weeks of further induction and training with some other new starters from the office.

As I am writing this, I am sitting in the Boston office and it is a hive of activity; every room seems to host a different department, each with its own atmosphere and energy. The trainer explains that due to the rapid growth in the Boston office they have to continuely take over more and more space over various floors within the building. The 4th floors seems to be the next area to be consumed by the organisation.

On a tour of the offices we pass by a friendly dog with steel blue eyes sitting by its owners desk, a kitchen with a selection of free snacks, and an enviable espresso machine located close by the development team in the lower ground floor. The caffeine hit is just the cure for my jet lag. Everyone I meet is genuinely excited to be here. It's not just the extra benefits, the buzz is really about the people.

A colleague makes a bold statement that "Hubspot transforms peoples lives", recounting tales of delighted customers. I know for a fact it has changed my own life, by giving me an incredible opportunity.

There are approximately 30 new hires in the training room. The diverse selection of backgrounds range from people who have worked in Google, Oracle, advertising agencies, education and there is even a pastor in the mix. Many are well travelled; all are well educated and have a wealth of experience behind them.

The energy, enthusiasm and optimism is infectious. It’s only my first day of training at the Boston office and I am left thirsty for more.
